What is holistic health care? |
Holistic health care for animals is an approach to veterinary
medicine that evaluates multiple aspects of the patient’s life
and health and then provides or suggests options both within and
outside conventional veterinary approaches. Holistic health care
isn’t exclusively herbal, natural, or energy-based treatments.
It considers all of the options. Pharmaceutical agents and
surgery are sometimes the best treatment available.
Occasionally, multiple modalities or treatments can be combined
to provide the best care for the patient. The ultimate goal of
Holistic Health Care is optimal health and longevity for your
dog. |

Nutrition |
Nutrition is the basis for life and health. A good, balanced
diet containing fresh, high quality ingredients is as important
for the health of a dog as it is for a human. While the pet food
industry has worked hard to create a variety of quality products
for our companions, for many individuals a little more is
needed. New information about the benefits of fresh foods is
discovered daily. Some animals just need a little more or less
of a specific nutrient to help them through a critical period.
Selecting the right food and adjusting the diet to fit the
individual’s needs can be a daunting task, but the health
rewards are worth the effort required. |

Chiropractic |
Chiropractic care for animals generally involves careful,
physical manipulation of spinal, or other skeletal elements. It
is most frequently used to treat musculoskeletal problems such
as lameness and sore backs in veterinary medicine. Regular
chiropractic care is of great benefit for working and
performance animals. It is frequently used in conjunction with
acupuncture or physical therapy and massage to provide the
quickest recovery from injuries and stress. Anyone performing
these manipulations on animals should be well trained both in
the technique and in the anatomy and physiology of the animal. |
|
Acupuncture |
Acupuncture is an ancient technique developed by the Chinese
some 3000 years ago. It is based on the idea that chi, a form of
energy, flows through specific channels in the body proving the
foundation and coordination for bodily functions. Blockages of
that flow cause pain and disease. Various forms of acupuncture
use needles, electrical current, injected substances or laser
light to remove blockages and stimulate the proper flow of chi
through the body. |

Herbal Remedies |
Herbal
remedies are nature’s pharmacy. Many of today’s prescription
drugs started out from an extract of a plant. Herbs are potent
treatments and can pose a significant danger to an animal if not
properly administered. All herbal remedies contain a variety of
natural chemicals which can affect body functions. Herbs are
usually gentler than prescription drugs and may have a larger
safety margin and fewer side effects. They should not be given
to your pet without the knowledge and advice of a veterinarian.

Flower Remedies |
Flower
remedies are delicate extracts of a wide variety of blooms. They
are usually preserved with alcohol or a vinegar/tea mixture.
These remedies hold the energetic essence of the flower from
which they were made. They are usually used to address emotional
and behavioral issues, though they may also have profound
effects on physical ailments in some cases. |

Allergy Elimination |
Nabudripad’s Allergy Elimination Technique is a relatively new
procedure, NAET combines principles of immunology, neurology,
acupuncture and chiropractic. It helps to reprogram the body to
eliminate inappropriate physiological responses to specific
substances. |
