Paws in the Park 2006
We had a lovely day at
Coolidge Park
on October 14, 2006. The Humane
Educational Society invited PDX dogs to come and show off their
stuff for several thousand people attending the annual Paws in the Park
fundraiser. It was a beautiful day, and we all enjoyed showcasing our
awesome dogs, chatting with all of the visitors, and generally loitering
about the park, which doesn't usually allow dogs.
J Synner won the long down contest after some intense distraction
work by Mel, Bev, and Kathy eliminated Cris. Caesar won the agility
run-off for the mini class after taking on the poodle brigade (Killer,
Terror, and Kiba). Cris won the maxi class with a clean run and TV
coverage. The Rally demos featured both Nan and Carla working brace with
the Aussie girls, Millie and Mattie, and Carla's herding dogs Boo and
Stryker. The flyball demos were a big hit, with Full Steam narrowly
beating Loco-Motion after just a few end runs while the dogs were
figuring out that it's still flyball outdoors on grass. We had a lot of
fun and got terrific reviews all around. Please
