Daycare Photo Journal
June 2010:
So the other day I get this email promoting some company's big
"Halfway Over" sale. Really? 2010 is already halfway over? Yep, sure
enough, we'll all be Christmas shopping soon. But for now, we're having
a heck of a hot time of it. Julie installed misting systems for the big
dogs and the littles. They're attached to the lengthwise support pole
under the shade canopies, so all the black and double-coated dogs make a
sort of furry carpet under there when the sun gets to broiling. The
pools are out again, much to the joy of the Retriever set. We haven't
managed to afford dancing fountains yet, but the sprinklers and water
toys are a hit with the dogs that relish chasing the spray. Blocks of
ice with bits of cheese and dog treats mixed in are a good, if brief
distraction from the heat and humidity. And our extravagant Butterfly
Bush is bringing in the Lepidoptera from far and wide, providing yet
another opportunity for fun and frolic (for the dogs, of course, not so
much fun or frolic for the butterflies!). So, despite the oppressive and
depressive heat, the dogs always manage to make us smile. Hope these
pictures give you a lift, too. Happy Halfway! -- Bev
